Some couples might feel overwhelmed with the pressure to give every guest a plus-one option, but varying invites to include some plus-ones and some plus-nones is just fine. If you’re still unsure which guests should be given plus-ones, follow this general guideline: for singles who know many of the bride and/or groom’s family and friends, a plus-one is probably unnecessary. Conversely, for out-of-towners or couples who’ve been together longer than six months, plus-ones are customary.
Today there is no definitive rule regarding plus-ones, but it should be noted: the above recommendations generally apply to weddings with a more casual tone. In the end, each couple is unique and will know what options work best for their family and friends.
